Basketball-sized landing probes loaded with micro-sensors could be robotically or astronaut deployed on an asteroid to discern the object's makeup, as well as keep a trajectory track on the exact whereabouts of the space rock. Ball Aerospace scientists and engineers are also studying options for mobility of such hardware, such as "hopping," and for anchoring to the surface of a microgravity body.
