 This rare photo of a rogue wave was taken by first mate Philippe Lijour
aboard the supertanker Esso Languedoc, during a storm off Durban in South
Africa in 1980. The wave approached the ship from behind before breaking
over the deck, but in this case caused only minor damage. The wave was
