- ORBITAL FLIGHT EXPERIENCE:
The majority of Usachev's experience has been on board Mir working alongside Yuri Onufrienko and NASA's Shannon Lucid.

Born: October 9, 1957. Grew up in Donetsk, Rostov-on-Don Region, Russia. Spouse: Vera Sergeevna Usacheva. Children: one daughter. Parents: Anna Grigorevna Usacheva, father deceased. Family: one older brother, one twin sister.
- EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Graduated from Donetsk Public Schools in 1975. Graduated from Moscow Aviation Institute with an engineering diploma, in 1985.
After graduating from the Aviation Institute, Usachev worked for Energia, partook in groups working with Extravehicular Activity (EVA) training, future assembly in space, publicity and ergonomics. After cosmonaut training, he participated in a course of general space training. He was a member of the backup crew for the Mir 13, 14 and 19 missions. He has served as board engineer on Space Station Mir. Altogether, he has logged 376 days in space and has participated in six EVA's.
