survivor_cosmonauts_010628Another outer space "Survivor" idea has been hatched, this time with a Russian twist. A Hollywood TV producer has struck a deal to film a "Survivor"-like reality show at Russia's Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Center, with a trip into space as the grand prize. "Space Trials" will follow 26 male and female contestants through 26 weeks of training at the center, with players being eliminated from the game along the way. Only one will receive the space trip. Producers describe the contest as being "sometimes torturous" and "grueling" and designed to select the most qualified amateur cosmonaut. Retired cosmonaut and Soyuz commander Director Col.-General Pyotr Ilyich Klimuk, has been tapped to award the winner with their orbital trip. "Space Trials" is a joint effort between the Gagarin Center, Hollywood's Destiny Productions, and Australian entrepreneur Ilya Osadchuk.
