Russian Musical Band To Follow Tito The Russian pop music group Na-Na is currently undergoing basic cosmonauts training in Star City and a medical examination at the Institute of Biomedical Problems (IBMP) to apparently prepare one band member to fly onboard a space-bound Russian Soyuz spacecraft. The all-male group -- managed by Barry Alibasov -- was formed in the late 1980s. "Anybody could apply and go through cosmonauts training at Star City," Konstantin Kreydenko, an employee of the Russian Aviation and Space Agency (Rosaviakosmos) press service, told SPACE.com. "It does not mean, however, that this person will fly in space. Any Russian space mission needs to be approved by the Rosaviakosmos collegium. So far, Na-Na has not officially applied for its space mission to Rosaviakosmos." Alibasov refused to make any comments on Na-Na space plans. California billionaire Dennis Tito paid $20 million to be a part of a three-man crew that rode a Soyuz vehicle to the International Space Station in April. NASA opposed Tito's flight because the space tourist received no training in the United States. The agency finally agreed to his flight once Tito signed a waiver saying he would pay for any damages he may incur while onboard the ISS.
