WASHINGTON U

WASHINGTON U.S. Rep. Sherwood Boehlert (R-New York) was chosen Jan. 4 to serve as chairman of the House Science Committee, according to congressional sources.

Boehlert, a 10-term lawmaker, replaces Rep. F. James Sensenbrenner (R-Wisconsin), who will take over as chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, sources said.

During his term on the Science panel, Sensenbrenner was a frequent critic of NASAs policy regarding Russian participation in the International Space Station program.

Rep. Henry Hyde (R-Illinois), the previous chairman of the Judiciary Committee, moves over to head the House International Relations Committee, sources said.
