JSC Staffers See Different Sort of Star By Glen Golightly Houston Bureau Chief posted: 01:34 pm ET 12 August 1999

HedHOUSTON Johnson Space Center personnel have their eyes on the heavens, but the center recently got a star having nothing to do with celestial bodies. The center is now the only federal agency to win both the Occupational Safety and Health Administrations Volunteer Protection Program Star site and ISO 9000 certification. About 500 companies nationwide are OSHA VPP Star sites, an honor awarded for excellence in worker safety and health protection through cooperative efforts of labor, management and government. ISO 9000 is an award from the International Organization for Standardization recognizing management and quality excellence. NASAs Langley Resarch Center in Virginia is also a VPP Star site.
