Supermodel Cindy Crawford, always ready for her close-up, said Thursday that a lift-off to the International Space Station wouldn't be out of the question if the conditions were right.

At a news conference in Moscow, Crawford said that she would be delighted to travel with Russian cosmonauts if "I could be there and back in a week."

"If they invite me, maybe, I don't know," Crawford said. Crawford was in Moscow to judge a student art competition and present a jewelry collection.

In an interview from the International Space Station on Saturday, Russian Cosmonaut Valery Korzun suggested Crawford as an alternative to pop singer Lance Bass, the member of boy band *NSYNC who is currently attempting to be the next space tourist.

``We would be very happy to see one of the supermodels,'' Korzun said. ``But this is a joke and we will be very happy to receive any space tourist. They're very welcome here.''

Bass, 23, must begin training in Moscow soon if he wants to be ready to occupy the empty third seat on a Russian Soyuz capsule bound for the international space station in October. The flight is just four months-away, meaning that if the Soyuz launches on time, Bass could not complete the recommended six-month training regimen the space station partners agreed to earlier this year.
