We want one of these! Getting from Earth to Neptune, a task accomplished with a lot of fuel in a launch rocket, resulted in a Voyager fuel efficiency of some 30,000 mpg (13,000 kilometers per liter). A Voyager craft, which weighs nearly a ton, operates on 400 watts of power produced by the heat of decaying plutonium. That's about a fourth the amount used by the average home in the western U.S.
