Space Shuttle Endeavour and its crew of five astronauts flew an 11-day mission to the International Space Station during December 2000, installing a 240-foot-wide, electricity-generating solar wing at the orbital outpost.
During the course of three spacewalks, the arrays were deployed and plugged in to the station, and were even fixed when one of the wings didn't properly deploy.
Inside the complex after the spacewalks were complete, the shuttle astronauts and station's Expedition One crew moved equipment and supplies back and forth, while also finding some time for sharing stories and having a meal together.
Launched at night, Endeavour returned to Florida in the dark, ending a nearly-flawless mission.
