 Atlantis approaches to dock with the International Space Station.

NASA began an ambitious schedule of launching nine shuttle missions during the next 12 months with this September 2000 flight of Atlantis to the International Space Station. The 99th space shuttle mission with seven astronauts aboard included: a nighttime launch, a docking with the station, a six-hour spacewalk by two of the crew members, unloading of supplies and equipment, an undocking and fly-around of the station and a night landing back at Kennedy Space Center in Florida. |
