NEW DELHI, Feb 28 (Reuters) - India will launch a new telecommunications satellite on March 21, United News of India (UNI) reported on Monday.
The news agency quoted Indian Space Research Organization (
ISRO) Chairman K. Kasturirangan as saying INSAT 3-B, which is built fully by the establishment, would be launched from Kourou in French Guiana.
Kasturirangan said that next year ISRO was also planning to launch INSAT 3-A, a satellite for meteorological and communications operations and INSAT 3-C, which would cater to communication networks.
India has six INSAT series satellites in space that are the mainstay of the country's broadcasting, communications and meteorological services.
