Kiev(Interfax) - Ukrainian specialists in late March or early April will begin workto determine the site to launch the Cyclone-4 at the Alcantara center inBrazil, Alexander Negoda, head of Ukraine's National Space Agency, said at apress conference in Kiev.
Ukrainewill work up five intergovernmental agreements under the project, he said.
Ukraineand Brazil in January signed an agreement on the protection of technology thatregulates cooperation in the space industry under the project to create theCyclone-4 complex at the Brazilian space center.
Ajoint venture will be set up under the project that will include Ukraine'sYuzhny Machine Building Plant and Yuzhnoye Design Bureau. The Brazilianpartners have not been disclosed. The Cyclone-4 complex will be opened in 2004and will make six launches a year. Foreign companies, including American ones,are also interested in the project.
TheCyclone is a small rocket that can launch up to 4 metric tonnes of payload withsatellite weight of 1 - 1.5 metric tonnes to low orbit of 600,000 - 800,000kilometers.
