Astrophotographer Thierry
Legault has produced a gallery of impressive images, including a snapshot of
the solar
transit of the International
Space Station (ISS) and space
shuttle Atlantis back
in September.
An engineer living in the
suburbs of Paris, Legault caught the high-flying twosome some 50 minutes after
Atlantis undocked
from the ISS before the shuttle returned
to Earth. Of course some nifty telescope and camera equipment was
used to snag the shot, taken on September 17, 2006 from the area of Mamers in
France.
This image was extracted
from a series of 14 images Legault took at a rate of 3 images per second as the
shuttle/ISS cruised across the face of the Sun.
