The Andromeda
Galaxy shimmers in splendor in this view taken by skywatchers Adam Block
and Tim Puckett.
Also known
as Messier 31 (M31), Andromeda sits some two million light-years from our own Milky Way, and will ultimately slam
into our home galaxy in the distant future.
Block and
Puckett used an Apogee U9000 camera and Televue 127 telescope to capture this
vie of the Andromeda Galaxy. They spent a total of about 22 hours observing the
object.
“The
variation of the theme for this image is the color,” Block told SPACE.com.
“I tried to bring out the color as much as possible... but keep everything faithful
and true.”
