C/2007 T7
Comet LINEAR (catalogued C/2002 T7) has recently emerged in the morning sky after being hidden in the glare of the Sun. Astronomers are not sure how bright it will become but they say it could soon be worth the time of even casual stargazers.
This picture of the comet was taken by Gianluca Masi and Franco Mallia (of the Campo Catino Observatory) on Apr. 17, using the 14" SoTIE telescope in Las Campanas (Chile).
LINEAR will remain very low near the eastern horizon, potentially visible about an hour before sunrise into the beginning of May. Another comet, called NEAT, could offer a better view from the Northern Hemisphere in early May. [Complete report]
