A Final Look at the Holidays in Space
A Final Look at
the Holidays in Space
CAPE CANAVERAL,
Fla. -- They didn't win any awards for
neighborhood holiday light displays, but the
two-person crew on board the International Space
Station did find a way to decorate their home
these past few weeks.
American astronaut
Mike Foale (right) and Russian cosmonaut Alexander
Kaleri were able to hang some traditional
decorations around the frontier outpost, including
this Christmas tree in the U.S. Destiny science
module.
The crew were able
to celebrate American and Russian versions of the
holidays, which depending on your beliefs and
country of origin included a Christmas Day on Dec.
25 and again on Jan. 7.
Foale reported in
an interview with SPACE.com that Santa Claus did
make it aboard the outpost while they slept on
Christmas Eve and dropped off a few goodies from
family and friends.
