Untitled
CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. -- Expedition Eight crewmembers
Alexander Kaleri and Michael Foale soon could be taking a stroll outside the
International Space Station.
A spacewalk involving both crewmembers, with nobody
left inside to monitor things, would be something new for the program and
managers haven't officially approved the task, which could happen early next
year.
But in preparation for the lilely extravehicular
activity, cosmonaut Kaleri -- shown here -- recently donned the spacesuit and
then went inside the Pirs docking compartment to run through spacewalk
procedures.
If approved, Kaleri and Foale would spend several
hours outside completing a handful of maintenance and assembly-related
tasks.
