The rocket will be carrying Alexander Kaleri, Michael Foale and Pedro Duque to the International Space Station. Kaleri and Foale will remain for six months as the Expedition Eight crew, while Duque will return to Earth on Oct. 27 with the Expedition Seven crew of Ed Lu and Yuri Malenchenko.

Crew transfers using the Russian Soyuz spacecraft will continue about every six months until the space shuttle
