Earth and the Moon were
imaged by JPL's Galileo spacecraft in 1992 on its way to explore Jupiter. Earth's
shimmering, jewel-like beauty contrasts with the gray, lifeless surface of its
satellite. The Earth image is centered on the Pacific Ocean about latitude 20
degrees south. The bright ray crater seen near the bottom of the Moon is the
