The
space shuttle Atlantis is lowered toward the external fuel tank and twin solid
rocket boosters in the 52-story Vehicle Assembly Building at NASA's Kennedy Space
Center.
NASA
workers will mate Atlantis to the tank and boosters sitting on the mobile
launcher platform. The shuttle will then be rolled out to Launch Pad 39A to
prepare for launch on the STS-125 mission slated for October 8, 2008.
The
STS-125 space shuttle crew is scheduled to perform maintenance and overhaul
the Hubble Space Telescope. Their mission will represent the fifth and
final servicing flight to the orbital observatory since its April 1990 launch.
