UntitledLast night the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror Films held the 30th Annual Saturn Awards in Los Angeles, honoring this past year's best genre movies, television shows and video entertainment and singling out the noteworthy efforts of performers and creators for these fantastic visions. Peter Jackson's final chapter in the THE LORD OF THE RINGS trilogy of films, THE RETURN OF THE KING, took home 8 Saturns in all including top honors in Best Fantasy Film, Best Actor (Elijah Wood), Best Supporting Actor (Sean Astin) and Best Director. The extended edition DVD of THE TWO TOWERS was also singled out for Best DVD Special Edition Release. Ironically, WB's now-cancelled television series ANGEL received the second-most Saturns with 4 in total. Lead actor David Boreanaz took home an award for Best Actor in a Television Series while James Marsters won for Best Supporting Actor (Television) and Amy Acker for Best Supporting Actress (Television). The show also tied with CSI: CRIME SCENE INVESTIGATION for Best Network Series. Scott Speedman (UNDERWORLD) was on-hand to accept his award for the male Face of the Future 2003 while Melissa George from (ALIAS) was unavailable to accept her award for the female Face of the Future.
