How Was Your Hallloween?
Down here we had "Nightmare on 'J' Street", a two night downtown block party. Kewel! I really should get a digital camera. I had my picture taken with some creatures and I'm still waiting for the guy to e-mail it to me. He'll probably forget. Tons of people downtown. Great costumes! Good bands, good food, good booze, good looking women and of course plenty of braaaaaaaaaaiiiiiiiiiiins!!! There was also a wickedly funny sidewalk puppet show featuring elaborately costumed hand puppets belting out everything from Donna Summer to The Barber of Seville!

We went to see a local stage production of Singin’ In The Rain. It was great. It was all produced by local talent, many of whom I know and have worked with. They even had real rain on stage, and the video production was awesome.

I was on the internet, making a post in SDC Free Space about a giant carnivorous centipede that lives in a cave and eats bats, in another one of Jim48's Halloween threads.

Re: How Was Your Hallloween?
Hmm.. It was OK. I listened to a great show on NPR about different "War of the Worlds" type radio broadcasts that have been done across American and in other countries, sometimes with disastrous results. I dodged and drove around trick-or-treaters who were out in droves despite occasional rain. Wearing black and walking in the middle of the street in my neighborhood is just not conducive to living to one's next birthday. The lighting is low enough around here as it is. (Stupid decorative lightposts don't put out a whole lot of light covered up by trees...)
One thing that struck me - Halloween Costumes are getting a heck of a lot skimpier than I remember them... Some parents may not be paying enough attention to what their kids are actually wearing out there. Sheesh!
PS - There was a kid's party down the street that stayed rockin' until 2am or so. Was a bit aggravating at times, especially after some drunken argument broke out. But, no biggie. I did notice parents chaperoning groups of kids though. That's good to see. When I was a kid, they just opened the door and let us flood into the streets which wasn't always a good thing.

I can only keep so many balls in the air simultaneously, brother Zen. I thought it was a good idea. But then I think that about all of my ideas.

I was at our Chandler facility working for the sixth weekend in a row
I had to wake up at 3:30 am Sunday morning so I went to bed at 7:00 pm Saturday night.
But I did take the loooong way home through Safford/Clifton/Springerville & got to see the Mt Graham Observatory from a distance. It's really BIG!!!
& you can see it from quite a distance away.

Re: How Was Your Hallloween?
We had a great Halloween. CalliBaby 1.0 was an Ewok, CalliBaby 2.0 was a princess riding a unicorn, CallisHubby was Chewbacca, and I was a Hershey's Kiss. Hubby's folks were visiting from SD, so we had a family Halloween party as well. It was a blast. And we had tons of trick-or-treaters!
The only downside was the night after. I apparently picked up one of those garden-variety 8-hour stomach flu bugs. From 2AM (the second 2AM, I think) until 4AM, I was worshiping at the porcelain altar. Missed church the next day, and was pretty tired all day yesterday. I'm better now.

Glad you're feeling better, but as the only real, genuine, bonafide, honest-to-God scientist here at SDC I have to tell you that there is no such thing as stomach flu. Usually it's mild food poisoning. Truth: I read that in a Michael Crichton novel years ago.

Dangit. I knew I forgot I was supposed to do something for Halloween!
(One time, years ago, I came close to saying "screwit" and moving to the Keys and doing.. nothing.

Down here the only season we have is the "laid back" season in which all inhabitants enjoy. Sorry that you missed the event but perhaps next year you might find time to partake in an adventure to "Margaretaville'!

Re: How Was Your Hallloween?
The comedy duo of Red Zombie (my pal) and Blue Zombie (myself) terrorized the easily offended.
As Red Zombie, Steve wore a messed-up Palin T-shirt (painted so she looked like the Joker) a huge plastic cross around his neck, and a handful of tea bags, and shuffled around mouthing standard slogans: "Family Values! National Security! Stay the course! WHARRRGARBLE!"
As Blue Zombie, I was resplendant in a torn "O" T-shirt, and carrying Universal Protest signs ("Insert cause here" and "Free Che Guevara"), although my dialogue was limited to the omnipresent zombie chant: "Chaaaaaaaange. CHAAAAAAAAAAAANGE!"
Total candy haul: None, we're in our 30's, and I'm a diabetic to boot.
Total angry looks from humorless partisans: Dozens. Blue Zombie got more angry looks/comments by about 2:1. Some people did laugh, though.
