Fire Breathing Dragons, for REAL????
Last week I saw a documentary either on the History Channel or Science Channel that stated they were for real. They showed a picture of it buried in an ice cave, along with several dead knights, in their armor. The dragons had special "ballast" lungs filled with hydrogen, to provide the buoyancy for flight. The scientists actually tested the lungs, and found the hydrogen. The head of the dragon had 3 straight horns protruding from the back side of its head. This is almost to weird to believe. Did anyone else see this program?

It was a "documentary" about the lives of dragons...but it was definitely fiction.
I had seen it, or something similar, before and was amazed at how they were portraying the information as scientifically accurate! I kept looking for the disclaimer, but never saw one. (there was one at the very beginning, but if you blink, you miss it)
Here's a link about it....

"Discovery Channel made a documentary style movie called Dragon's World: A Fantasy Made Real. This movie actually caused confusion in some people who thought this was a real documentary presented by Discovery with actual facts. However, this docudrama was made for entertainment purposes only. The scientists were played by actors. It was advertised as an "alternate history". "

Some people will believe anything, no matter how stupid it is....

Ahem. It was presented as a documentary with pictures (video) of a mummified dragon, and scientists examining it. IMO, the Discovery Channel loses a lot of credibility for this farse.

Ya know.. I realize it was presented as a documentary and all that. But, I think it was kind of obvious they were just using that as a neat mechanism to bring a subject "to life" for the viewer. It's style is a "mocumentary" much like "This is Spinal Tap." It's just like "Walking with Dinosaurs" or whatever mocumentary it is that has the host going back in time to view, trap or otherwise interact with dinosaurs. Do viewers believe a scientist and crew are going back in time to catch, film and interact with real dinosaurs?
Sometimes, it's not the story or how it's told we have to question - It's the recipient's inability to tell fact from fiction.
The "Dragons" mocumentary was much more obvious than any "World of the World's" type presentation. I could maybe see some young people being confused but, an adult who was confused over this has much more than an overactive imagination to contend with, IMO. Such a condition isn't incurable, it just needs a good dose of reality-injections to be kept at bay.

My ex wasn't exactly a fire-breathing dragon. The closest I can come to one is a girl I lived with in college. My friends and I decided to call her "Broadzilla."
She was kinda like Xena except she didn't need no stinkin' sword... She'd just shoot radioactive fire out of her mouth and lazers out of her eyes. I think she could have beat the snot out of Lucy Lawless though..

a) They weren't trying to present it as fact (honestly, how many of its viewers would believe that anyway? ... oh, right). There was some sort of disclaimer stating that it was fiction. Don't blame others if you didn't pick up on that.
b) Misspelling "farce" is not helping your cause.

I was flipping thru channels and came across it. They gave plausible explanations for the flying part of it, which I was interested in. As soon as they started with the fire breathing section, I turned it off, knowing it was going to get rediculous. IIRC, the title of the program had the word dragons in it, but no mention of fantasy. In all, I wasted about 20 min. of my time.
The fact that I misspelled "farce" has nothing to do with my cause. I didn't know I was in a spelling contest, otherwise I might have been more careful.

Misspelling simple words speaks to one's intelligence, and in turn one's credibility, especially when one is claiming that Discovery Channel should be blamed for their thinking a mockumentary on dragons was real.
Incidentally, if you caught Spinal Tap on TBS a half hour in, would you get upset with TBS upon finding out that there never was actually a band called Spinal Tap?

Also, upon re-reading this thread I noticed that you haven't actually been reading what people have been telling you in this very thread:

The legends of dragons are caused by the presence of a humanoid-reptilian species on Earth. Our own 'legends' still refer to it; we put them in TV-series like 'V'.

Yeah, like that gecko on those insurance commercials. (shudder) That little reptilian hominoid gives me the creeps. He seems nice enough, but I would hate to have to submitt a claim to him!
Thanks for bringing this up supn - it is important in this economy that we keep the jobs on earth for humans, I'm no bigot but the humanoid-reptilians can get jobs anywhere in the cosmos so leave earthling jobs for earthlings!

Oh, I actually loved that special! Discovery didn't lose any credibility in my mind for that one. It was a thought experiment, wrapped up in a dramatization to appear as a documentary. If dragons *did* exist, how would they live? Function? Breed? Interact with the animals that really did exist? I found it fascinating. I actually preferred it to that "Future Is Wild" one, speculating about what life might be like in the distant future, which actually seemed more contrived.

really? Yea this is completely out of this world. (sarcasm) What about the real dragons that were flying around 65 million years ago. Its not that absurd. Technically dragons existed, we just prefer to call them dinosaurs.
However, I agree i would have to see it to believe it. I mean if fire breathing dragons lived not too long ago, I cant seem to understand why they would be extinct now. They would have had to be on the top of the food chain, unless humans with swords killed every last one............
