Good grief! 23 years in a coma/catatonic state! That is more frightening than that Twilight Zone episode of the same nature. The fact that this guy would scream and nothing would come out. Oh man.

Could he move his eyes? Were they open the whole time?

I used to date a nurse that worked in one of those special hospital/care facilities where people in comas are cared for, and there was this one boy whose eyes were open and moving, but he wasn't there. close(-)

haha. I'm not sure how Anglo-Saxon it really is, well, I don't put Italian sausage in it, just beef, that's why it's 'Anglo'. Of course it has ricotta, mozerella, and parmesan cheese in it too. If you want the recipe, I'll post it for you. But if it's for kids, you would probably want to use less fresh garlic and dried oregano and basil then what mine calls for.

Check out a website called "Supercook". You punch in everything in your pantry and fridge, and it spits out all the stuff you can make with what you have. close(-)

"Hijacked" is a bit too powerful a term in this case, IMO. They chose that date to celebrate the unknown actual birthdate of Jesus to coincide with celebrations of the Winter Solstice, but not on the Solstice itself. (And it was also intended to capture the attention of the pagans of Northern Europe and elsewhere.)

I understand what you're saying Grok. I didn't mean to suggest that all the secularists see it as a celebration of the almighty dollar, but commercial interests definitely see it and portray it that way. And they pervert its meaning. For example, commercials for very pricy luxury cars, with ribbons, while playing "Christmas" albeit, secular "Christmas" music.

It's not about what you get, or what you give, but the spirit of giving. If a rich man gives you a car, is that more meaningful than a poor man giving you the shirt off his back? Or his last $5 dollars? You see what I'm saying?

What do you think those "Christmas" lights originally represented? I would say the light of the world that is Christ. Perhaps not, but if people don't at least have the spirit of the celebration in mind, they may as well call it the "Holiday", or "Hueybluey Day" because "Christ Mass" has no meaning to them.

So I can easily see why atheists would want to take the word "Christ" out of the picture. I don't have a problem with that, they can call it whatever they want in the privacy of their own homes, or not celebrate it at all. I could care a less. But whether they like it or not, I will shout it out on the streets: Merry Christmas and Ho! Ho! Ho!

And I've got nothing against Santa Clause either.

And it is a shame that people don't keep the spirit of sharing food, family, friends, and hospitality to strangers the year round. But the celebration of Christmas reminds people that they should. close(-)

I'm somewhat surprised that they didn't mention these several counter-points. I hope Nat Geo isn't on the road to becoming like much of the History Channel's programming.* Good God! Let's hope not!
