Yes, the mass would immediately start falling inwards. That mass suddenly appeared in curved space-time. The curvature is always there, but changes in that curvature propagate at c. This is a straw man.

But, what if you introduced that mass at Earth's orbit at the same time as you removed the Sun? The mass would follow the original curvature until the change in curvature reached it.

Maybe they do ,but why?.
What determines the speed?.
How would we know if it was not C when the curvature has lots of time to get there.
We cannot do the instant mass thing so what can we measure?. close(-)

Let's try a simple thought experiment. Let's say the sun at the center of our solar system suddenly vanished. If I am correct, then the entire solar system would slowly begin to fly apart. We can visualize the gravity wave expanding from the center outward over a period of hours, and even days slowly over an easily measurable period of time. It makes sense (visually) to see the planets and asteroids and comets closer to the center begin to fall apart and fly off in all sorts of directions at this sudden and unexpected loss of gravity holding them together. I can see no reason why the furthest reaches of the solar system should instantly react.

Gravity behaves, relativistically as a warping of space-time, it stands to reason I think, that that if you removed the central massive star holding it all together, that the warp at the center would smooth out first, and that this change in the curvature in space-time would propogate outward (a lot like removing a bowling ball from a large stretched rubber sheet). This lessening of curvature would propogate outward at a defined speed (C or slower) and should not, logically be instantaneous.

Now, on to my second point. You replied that you do not care about "violating concepts". This is a rather careless thing to say. These concepts are not adopted haphazardly, but rather through careful study, observation, and verification. I should think you would want to have some fairly good reason for rejecting proven and successful model from which we derive such concepts. Do you have any observational experiments which overturn this concept? If so I would very much like to hear about it further, but I would hope that it is something more than you simply thinking that you are smarter than Einstein, and alone in your living room, have proven relativity wrong simply because you have a hunch.

If I am wrong on my understanding of the physics, it would not be the first time (far from it) and I would gratefully accept any informed and sourced correction, but I do think we have to be careful here when we declare that we don't care what the accepted physics accepted by the scientific community are, without some damn good reason to reject them.
