Location: Immediately south of Space Shuttle Launch Pad 39A on the northern tip of geographic Cape Canaveral

Origin: Air Force expansion of launch facilities at Cape Canaveral in support of Titan missile-based heavy-lift space launch vehicles

Cost of Construction: $40 million, including companion Launch Complex 40 and vehicle processing facilities in the Air Force Integrate-Transfer-Launch (ITL) area

First Launch: Titan III-C carrying a military payload, December 21, 1965

Last Launch: Titan IVB carrying a military payload, April 9, 1999

Total Number of Launches: 27

Types of Vehicles Launched: Titan III-C, Titan III-E Centaur, Titan IVA, Titan IVB

Launch Highlights:

* August 20, 1975 - Viking 1, first U.S. spacecraft to land on Mars
