Europa Ocean's Background Noise Simulated Using Seismic Waves | Video

To be clear, this is not what the ocean actually sounds like. The researchers, led by Mark Panning of the University of Florida, modeled the seismic waves generated by cracking events in Europa's ice shell. They took 3 hours' worth of this simulation data and compressed it by a factor of 500, bringing the frequencies into the audible range. [Full Story]
