If you've been craving an iPhone but didn't want to give up a contract with Sprint, your patience may have finally paid off.
The Wall Street Journal cites industry sources who say the iPhone 5 will be available on the Sprint network in mid-October. This meshes with numerous rumors that Apple will announce the iPhone 5 in late September and start shipping it in October.
While AT&T and Verizon have seen sales boosts from offering the iPhone, Sprint has suffered. Carrying the iPhone 5 will help bolster flagging sales. In fact, Sprint may be an attractive option for heavy iPhone data users because it is the last remaining network with truly unlimited data plans (meaning plans without data caps or download speed throttling).
The WSJ also reiterated rumors that Apple will announce a cheap version of the iPhone 4 alongside the new iPhone 5. The company currently sells a steeply discounted iPhone 3GS along with the iPhone 4 in order to capture the consumers who don't want to spend hundreds of dollars on a phone.
