Hakuto Dual Rovers Could Explore Moon Caves | Video
By Dave Brody, Executive Producer |
A pair of rovers – one four-wheel robot and one two-wheel robot which can rappel on a tether– will work together to survey vertical lunar features. The size and mass in a stored configuration (during the cruising phase) is about 50cm x 50cm x cm and 10kg in total (without interface attached to a lander). These two rovers will travel together on a relatively flat area. But, to explore a cliff or a vertical hole, the four-wheel rover will act as an anchor and the two-wheel rover will descend using a tether.
