The year's brightest ‘Perigee Moon’ (closest point in orbit) and the peak of the annual Perseid meteor shower arrive at the same time (August 11-13, 2014). The lunar glare will reduce meteor counts, but some fireballs could be as bright as Jupiter or Venus for a few seconds or less.
