Forget about Kevin Sorbo

Forget about Kevin Sorbo. Take a look at the real star of the upcoming science fiction series Gene Roddenberry's Andromeda.

Tribune Entertainment released this picture of the sentient starship Andromeda Ascendant to premier Andromeda fan site Slipstreamweb.com on Tuesday.

The sneak peek at the ship runs counter to earlier expressed wishes of the show's head writer and executive producer Robert Hewitt Wolfe, who had said that the first time viewers would see the vessel would be when the show first airs in early October.

In fact, Wolfe had been so adamant about keeping the ship design a surprise that one of the early promotional spots for the series bore the tag line, "We could tell you what this is, but then we'd have to vaporize you," while offering teasing glimpses at the ship.

"Things happen," Andromeda staff writer Ashley Edward Miller told fans on the web site. "We all would have preferred to wait, but events dictated otherwise."

The ship's artificial intelligence will be played by Lexa Doig, best known to fans of genre television for her roles on Earth: Final Conflict and TekWar.
